Reema Patel, DO
Hometown: Bartlett, IL
Medical School: Nove Southeastern University College of Osteopathic Medicine
Undergraduate Studies: University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign
About Me: I was born and raised in the Chicagoland area. During my undergraduate studies, I majored in Biology and Psychology, which sparked my interest in the intersection of medicine and mental health. Between college and medical school, I earned a Master’s degree in Bioengineering and worked in the biotech and pharmaceutical industries. I later moved to Florida for medical school and quickly fell in love with the sunshine state. During clinical rotations, I observed how mental health can exacerbate chronic medical conditions and contribute to recurrent hospital admissions. What I value most about psychiatry is the opportunity to hear patients’ stories and build meaningful relationships that empower them to reach their goals. The most rewarding aspect of this program is its supportive learning environment, the camaraderie among residents, and the dedication of the faculty.
